The city increased the administration fee that it charges Waste Management to help pay for road repairs. While this seems like a good idea I am concerned about a few issues.
1. The fee was increased from $84,000 to $103,500 per year. But the city has only budgeted $50,000 of this money to go to road repairs. Where does the other $53,000 go? What is it used for?
2. If the increase is to pay for road repairs then why are we only spending 49% of it on roads?
3. The cost of this increase is being directly added to the rate you pay to Waste Management and is a de facto tax on everyone who uses their service.
Where does it stop? It seems that the city is just looking for new ways to get into your wallet everyday. It appears that the only way to get away from the cities reach is to move to the county, haul your own garbage, get off the grid, dig your own well and get off the sewer system. Who ever though that moving into King County would be a better option?
How about a bathtub?
ReplyDeleteIm not sure where you are going with that. Care to explain?
