At the city council meeting on Thursday the idea of charging citizens a $20 per car tax was discussed. This was obviously a concern for many of us so I sent an email to the mayor to get some clarification. Here is his reply:
Thomas,
The idea was just an idea that started at the county that the city is choosing not to participate in.
The idea is a 20 dollar car tax. This tax is for each registered vehicle. So it does not apply to delivery trucks unless they are registered to someone living within the city limits. The money would have to be used for road projects. Such as repairing pot holes, to overlaying a load that needs it, to making needed improvements to roads with sidewalks.
Hope that helps.
Will Ibershof
Mayor
City of Duvall
So here is the run down. Some folks at the county level are pushing for a tax on every registered vehicle. This would include every car, truck, motorcycle and scooter. But, the Mayor has stated that Duvall will not be participating in this tax. I applaud the Mayor for his stance on this. It is refreshing to see some of our elected representatives choosing not to raise taxes.
Thanks again Mr. Mayor, my hat's off to you.
