Elections

Last night was election night and it appears that the electorate is not sure what they want from the government.  They resoundingly don't want the government to sell liquor but they are not sure if they want tighter controls on how the government collects and uses transportation dollars.  They want more security and protection for the seniors and infirm, they want you to live in the state to vote for President and they want the government to save money in a rainy day fund when times are good.
In Mississippi the union of a sperm and egg don't make a person, (This does not answer the question of when it happens and still leaves an inconsistency in their laws).  In Ohio the unions became more powerful, and then in Duvall it was a very quiet predetermined night.
Duvall had 3 races for City Council.  Leroy Collinwood, Becky Nixon and Jeff Wolf all won their races easily as all ran unopposed.  There were of course some write in candidates but these numbers are small.
So I didn't really see any trends in this election or a wave of support for one party or another.  It will be interesting to see how this gets addressed by the pundits and how it all gets spun.
