As part of a public record request I received an email sent from Skylar Hansen to all the members of the City Council regarding my blog. It is quoted below:

RE: goneright.blogspot.com, Who will join the council?, Jan. 27
Council-member Edwards:
I'm sure you will agree that it would be an embarrassment to Council for any one of its members to be anonymously, or by fictitious name, criticizing a constituent by means of a local political blog.

While I appreciate Skylar being the moral compass for the Council I have to ask, what makes him think that a councilmember is commenting on here anonymously? What proof does he have? What theory does he have? Or is this just another baseless accusation like so many other statements and publications he has made?
What is interesting to note is that since the blog has been started 4 council members have commented and all have used their names to do so.
I am intrigued that his choice of showing disapproval for councilmembers is to make send an email with no facts, no reason and without any support. But that is the Skylar I know.

ReplyDeleteDid you print the complete email? If you did, it's really strange. It looks like the emails Jared Loughner sent out before the Arizona incident. Should we be concerned? Is anyone keeping an eye on him?

ReplyDeleteMy interpretation of this is that Skylar thinks Councilmember Edwards posted anonymously or under a pseudonym to the 'Who will join the council' blog entry. I too would like to know what spawned this mail to the council, and why he felt it was necessary?
well I think santa claus should not post here anonymously too. I can say this with all the same certainty that skylar is saying council member edwards is posting here.

Seriously, this blog is really starting to suck. This stuff is so petty and ridiculous. I do not care what party you are, what belief system you have. Don't care. Just keep my taxes low, give me the basics of government services, and leave me alone. At this point I am starting to hope that "Skylar", whoever the hell that is, gets a seat on the council and smears it all in your faces. Move on. Gerry H.
ReplyDeleteThis is creepy. If he is making an accusation, why doesn't he come right out and say it? And why doesn't he quote the posting he thinks she made? It's very passive-aggressive. I hope he doesn't waste the city's time with frequent emails like this.

Jill - yes, he did. I've seen some of the mails, and received several of the fliers over the years. All in all, he talks a good talk until somebody disagrees with him at which point he turns into a schoolyard bully.

ReplyDeleteYour attitude is exactly why our country is in the bad shape it is today. Stop hoping unqualified (at best) and psychotic (at worst) people get elected into office to smear it in people's faces. I applaud this blog for holding people accountable and shining a spotlight on trouble.

Doesn't anyone else see the irony that Skylar/John/Dan accused councilmember Edwards of doing what he did (posting under a pseudonym. Was he trying to deflect attention away from himself after Thomas caught him?
ReplyDeleteThat brings up a good question, Thomas. Did Skylar send his email accusing Councilmember Edwards before or after you called him out on "sharing" a computer with John and Dan? If it was after, he's obviously deflecting. A typical behavior of a sociopath.
ReplyDeleteAnother good question - how did Edwards respond? I probably would have told him to go to hell. Did any of the other councilmembers respond?

It was after. I called him out on this on Jan 30th and he sent the email on Feb. 6th.

None of the other councilmembers responded. I am sure that he is doing a great deal to pester the Council. If I was in their shoes I would be concerned about talking to him as well.
I am reminded of an old saying that goes something like this, You can't play with the pigs and not expect to get dirty.
I think she showed great restraint. I'm disappointed none of the other councilmembers called him out.
