I am a bit of a Constitutional purist. I love the clarity and the exactness it has while also allowing for some room to adapt and change. That being said, I fully expect those who are elected to represent us should at least have a basic knowledge of its principles and content. I am shocked that a sitting Senator does not know the 3 branches of government. The Legislative, Executive and the Judiciary. It is pretty basic, ask any 5th grader. But Senator Schumer (D-NY) apparently does not know them. Perhaps he should talk to Jeff Foxworthy and see if they have any openings. Truly he is not smarter than a 5th grader. See for yourself.
Wow...
ReplyDeleteThe House and the Senate together are the legislative branch, or 1/3rd of the branches of government - not two of the three, no matter how important they imagine themselves to be.
The President forms the head of the Executive branch, and again, no matter how important he imagines himself (or herself) to be, is still just a third.
Interesting that the judicial system never got mentioned - perhaps because they consider themselves above the law?
