Election

So its that time of year again when we have to hold our nose and vote for the best of what we are offered.  There are several defining races this year but much of it is overshadowed in partisan rhetoric and political games.
It is difficult to sift through all the minutia that comes with an election but here are a few pointers that hopefully will help.
1. Read.  Take the time to read about the candidates and their positions.
2. Listen. Listen to what the candidates actually say and what they don't say.  This is often the true look into their priorities.
3. Ask.  Ask the questions others are not asking.  Find out what you want to know and tell others what you find.
4. Pray.  Pray for the wisdom to know who is the best candidate.  Pray that they stand up to the pressures of the office they are elected to and stay steadfast to their principles.  Pray for the country.  Pray for the state.  Pray for the county.  Pray for our city.  Pray for each other.

  1. Good advice and I just want to add a couple of things:

2b. Watch. Don't just listen to what they say, watch what they do. The administration now "in power" is blatant about how what they do is in direct contrast to what they say. Telling us taxes will not rise for 95% of Americans and then raising taxes on all of us is a striking contrast.
    4. Pray our leaders have the wisdom and the courage to do what is right

  3. This is good advice, Thomas. You need to be sure to re-publish this post before the next Duvall election.
