The US Government has decided that the sovereign territory of Arizona, specifically the Buenos Aries National Wildlife Refuge is too dangerous for Americas because drug smugglers and Mexican nationals have taken control of it. Their answer close the park. Or essentially give Mexico 3500 acres of America because we can't be bothered to protect our own sovereignty. Here is a portion of the actual notice sent out by the Dept. of Fish and Wildlife:
"The situation in this zone has reached a point where continued public use of the area is not prudent.
The Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge has been adversely affected by border-related activities. The international border with Mexico has also become increasingly violent.
Assaults on law enforcement officers and violence against migrants have escalated. Violence on the Refuge associated with smugglers and border bandits has been well documented. Many of these activities are concentrated at, or near, the border. The concentration of illegal activity, surveillance and law enforcement interdictions make these zones dangerous. Closure is in effect until further notice.

What is our government thinking?!? This is our territory! It is a state for goodness sake! How is it that we decide that we just cant be bothered to protect ourselves? What kind of a message does this send to the rest of the world? If you bother us and pester us and bring enough drugs and guns into an area of our country then we will just give it to you?!? So next time you go looking for wildlife in Arizona, don't be surprised if they welcome you to Mexico.
I don't even know what to say...
ReplyDeleteWe can send our troops all over the world to fight for freedom, but we can't deploy any to protect our borders? Seriously?
If you want to read the details for yourself:

I agree with Bart and Thomas: this is shameful. They should send the Carnation-Duvall PD down there - they'd have this turned around in no time. Or at least put the chief in charge.
ReplyDeleteAmen to that!
ReplyDeleteI bet there are plenty of American citizens who would be glad to go 'camping' and take the hunting rifles with for 'target practice' and take the land back... I know I would.
