State of the Union

I was discouraged by the President's speech last night. It was not the normal put forth your own agenda type of speech that we are so used to seeing. It was almost as if he was trying to make everyone upset with him. He chastised the Supreme Court for their recent ruling on campaign finances, he chastised Democrats for not pushing their agenda enough, he chastised Republicans for not being cooperative and he chastised banks, oil companies and people who make over $250,000 a year for not paying their fair share of taxes.
I felt like his speech was more of a lecture than a presentation of policy or direction. I look to my President to be inspired and to see the direction of the country. It is discouraging that he spend so much of his speech scolding us and that he missed this opportunity to inspire us.

  1. I kept waiting for him to bust out in the presidential version of "pants on the ground"

  2. That would have been more entertaining than Chris Matthews' racist statement that he was so good that he forgot he was black.

  3. Tommy paine, sometimes you surprise me with your sense of humor. The youtube where obama calls the kanye west an A-hole is pretty funny as well (although its pretty true). i just think that he needs to worry more about running the country. he seems to be on tv an aweful lot and not for things that are all that important. I do find it interesting that in the month of october he spent more over budget than bush did his entire first year. I dont have a source for that yet but If its true, thats messed up.
