Housekeeping

Pardon the interruption but I need to do a little housekeeping.
There will be a change to the blog from now on.  All comments must be in relation to the post at hand.  I will at times make deviations from this but they will be the exception to the rule and at my sole discretion.  So let's all try to focus a little on the discussion and make this a little more useful.
If you have other comments or items you wish to discuss please email me at goneright@live.com
Thanks

  2. julie,
thank you for your imput. A more careful reading of the post will show that I just want to keep the focus on the topic being discussed. I have offered my email address several times for anyone who would like to discuss other things or other topics.
As a refresher to those of you who need it, the first amendment protects you from the government infringing on your right to free speech. You get no such protection from private citizens. If you feel that I am censoring because I will restrict comments to the topic at hand then I encourage you to either comment on the topic at hand or suggest other topics via my email.
thanks for continuing to read and be a part of the discussion.

  3. Thomas,

I thought you said comments like Julie's above are no longer appropriate?

Where does it say that you'll "censor" posts that stick to the issues? You don't, haven't and, I'm guessing, never will advocate for censorship. Those who are not playing games can see you're doing quite the opposite with this blog - you are encouraging positive, constructive dialogue about important issues. And we owe you our thanks for bringing them to light.

The only people hoping to "censor" others are people like Julie who want to shut down a civil discussion about the issues. Notice she comes full circle back to the tactics your housekeeping post said were off limits? I thought the purpose of the blog is not to take issue with you, Thomas, (or with others who post valid comments) but to take a closer look at open and accountable government.

    Did I miss the mark?

  4. I think Julie wanted an explanation of what I meant by sticking to the issues so I thought it was sort of on point so I gave her a little leeway.

  5. Thank you! Many of us are here to discuss political issues, not insult or distract. I'm glad that you feel it's time to moderate the comments more. As it was, some people were making the conversation so negative that I was losing interest in following it.

  6. This blog is beginning to sound more and more like Mein Kampf.

  7. perhaps a quick read of the post above will remind anonymous that only those comments relating to the post will be added unless I feel it will add something to the discussion. The post above is the exception because I just thought I would share this kindergarten variety comment for others to enjoy as well.

  8. Julie,
Thanks for caring about my well being. But lets stick to the topic at hand.

  9. Lately, it has been noticeably quieter on this blog - and peacefully so. I'm following this blog again because it has returned to a civil, on-point discussion about issues I care about. Maybe Thomas still gets hate mail but I am glad he did 'housekeeping' a few days ago.
Thanks again, Thomas, for working hard to provide a positive place for posting.
